El Tango de RoxanneI have yet to see the beauty that is Moulin Rouge!, but I really need to now.
Fun fact: The Spanish monologue is as follows
Yo que te quiero tanto, qué voy a hacer?
Me dejaste, me dejaste
En un tango
En el alma se me fue
Se me fue el corazon
Ya no tengo ganas de vivir
Porque no te puedo convencer
Que no te vendas Roxanne
Which means, as far as I can interpret:
I love you so (I'm a bit confused here, as "Yo te quiero" means "I love you" and I have no idea what the "que" there means, so this may not be totally correct). What am I going to do?
You left me, you left me
in a tango
My soul left me
My heart left me (These two lines also are a bit confusing, and I'm guessing a bit on the meaning of "se me fue")
I don't have a will to live anymore (I had to look up "ganas de vivir", because literally that phrase means "victories of life", at least that's what I think it would literally mean)
Because I can't convince you
that you don't (have to?) sell yourself (your body?) (Again, the phrase would literally translate to "that you don't sell yourself", but I believe the understood meaning is "that you don't have to sell yourself (physically)")
